Franchise Notes: ManU Supporters Trust Raises Money For Sierra Leone Native

The ManU Supporters Trust said that it had "raised money for a fan who had travelled from Sierra Leone to see his first Old Trafford game to get a ticket" for next Saturday's FA Cup final against Crystal Palace at Wembley. The trust said it had also "rearranged flights and found hotels for the fan," Moses Momodukamara. The Sierra Leone native thought his "dream trip" had been "ruined by Sunday's bomb scare." He was "due to fly home on Monday but, after being initially devastated, soon became overwhelmed by the generosity of his fellow Red Devils" (GULF NEWS, 5/16).

Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur "have been hit with an unprecedented combined fine" of £600,000 ($867,800) and warned about their future behavior "for their part in the ugly scenes in their bad tempered match at Stamford Bridge this month." The size of the punishment "reflects the severity of the three separate mêlées in the 2-2 draw but also that the clubs have previously been fined for failing to control their players" in the past two years. Chelsea must pay £375,000 ($542,400) while Tottenham has been fined £225,000 ($325,400) for its "third breach of the rule in that time." The discrepancy in the fines "is due to Chelsea being fined on four previous occasions for mass confrontations" since Nov. '14 (LONDON TIMES, 5/16).
