Constantin Medien's Q1 Group Sales Increase By 59.6% From '15 To $173M

German sports marketing media group Constantin Medien continued its positive operating trend from the previous year in the first three months of '16. Group sales increased from €95.3M in the same period last year by 59.6% to €152.1M ($173M) in the first quarter, driven by the film segment. Segment Sports generated good coverage and user figures on the SPORT1 platforms with a slightly below-budget development in the area of production and reached nearly similar quarter sales of €35.2M ($40M) (Q1 '15: €35.5M). Due to planned higher cost of materials and licenses, segment earnings of €800,000 were behind the prior year’s level (Q1 '15: €2.1M). Segment Sports- and Event-Marketing increased sales by 27.6% to €13.4M ($15.2M). Segment earnings of €5.6M ($6.4M) remained at a high level (Q1 '15: €5.8M) (Constantin Medien).
