Borussia Dortmund Set To Break €300 Million Revenue Mark This Season

Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund "could break the €300M ($341M) revenue mark this season," according to Thomas Hennecke of KICKER. Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke previously said that he intends "to position the club in such a way that it generates €300M in annual revenue, excluding transfers." Dortmund's nine-month numbers, which were released on Tuesday, "show new revenue highs." The club's revenue increased by close to 17% from €207.8M to €242.9M ($276M) during the first nine months of the '15-16 fiscal year. Commission and bonus payments, which are traditionally being paid during the fourth quarter, as well as Mats Hummels' €35M ($40M) transfer to Bayern Munich "are expected to result in annual revenue of distinctively more than €300M." Dortmund also expects a profit "in the double-digit million range this season." Last year, the club made a €5.5M profit. It would be Borussia's sixth consecutive profit. During the first nine months, however, Dortmund reported a loss of €13.4M ($15.2M). Borussia Dortmund's record revenue of €305M was set in '12-13 (KICKER, 5/11).
