Event Notes: Matildas To Play Int'l Double-Header With Socceroos On June 7

The Rio-bound Matildas will "feature in an international double-header with the Socceroos at Melbourne's Etihad Stadium on June 7." The Matildas will "take on fellow Olympic qualifier New Zealand" before the Socceroos play a friendly against Greece. The match will be the "official Rio farewell for the Matildas" (AAP, 5/10).

Alicante, Spain’s regional government, Generalitat Valenciana, announced it "agreed a commitment to keep the Volvo Ocean Race in Alicante for two more editions." The deal will see Alicante "maintain its position as the start port for the 14th and 15th editions of the race" ('20-21 and '23-24, under the current format of a race every three years), as well as remain the base for the race HQ and the Volvo Ocean Race Museum during this period. The current agreement expires at the end of '18 (SAIL WORLD, 5/11).
