Media Notes: Spanish Broadcaster RTVE Signs Extension To Carry Vuelta Through '20

Spanish broadcaster RTVE and ASO-owned Unipublic "signed a renewal of the broadcast rights to the Vuelta a España" through '20. The parties signed the deal on Wednesday, with RTVE President José Antonio Sánchez and Vuelta Dir General Javier Guillén agreeing to terms (EP, 5/11).

ESPN
's top two English-language announcing teams "will call all their games from France during this summer's European Championship." Top play-by-play announcer Ian Darke "will work with Taylor Twellman or Steve McManaman." On the No. 2 team, Jon Champion "will be joined by analyst Stewart Robson." ESPN said Tuesday that former U.S. defender Kate Markgraf "will become the first woman to serve as a color commentator" for a top-tier int'l men's football competition on U.S. TV (AP, 5/11).

The Belgian FA (KBVB) "launched an exclusive Red Devils app" as coach Marc Wilmots will announce his squad for Euro 2016 on Thursday. Since '12 the KBVB "has been proactive in its online communication and social media, notably on Twitter with 439,000 followers and on Facebook with 1.1 million likes." With the new app, the KBVB "wants to detach some of its communication from social media platforms to better its product placement." The main goal of the "Red Devils powered by Proximus" app is to provide fans with information and also engage them (INSIDE WORLD FOOTBALL, 5/11).

Neo Sports "inked a deal with Tata Sky." The channel "will now be available on Tata Sky" (INDIAN TELEVISION, 5/9).
