Paris St. Germain Unveils $86M Parc Des Princes Upgrade

Paris St. Germain on Tuesday presented the €75M ($86M) upgrades to its Parc des Princes stadium “after three years of work, but the club wants to go even further,” according to Frédéric Gouaillard of LE PARISIEN. PSG General Dir Jean-Claude Blanc said, “The evolution will be to increase the stadium’s capacity. We are in the middle of looking at how the arena could accommodate more people. I do not have a date of when we’ll move forward. It is a lengthy process, which could be accelerated if the [Paris] 2024 Olympic bid is victorious, because having a 60,000-seat stadium would be a desirable asset for Paris.” PSG covered the €75M cost of the renovations that include a “complete overhaul of reception areas, suites and all seats.” The building now holds 4,500 VIP seats. In the five years since PSG was purchased by Qatar Sports Investments, ticket revenue at Parc des Princes has gone from €20M to €100M ($114M) (LE PARISIEN, 5/10).
