Media Notes: Sky Sports Wins BAFTA For Ashes Series Coverage

Sky Sports' coverage of last summer's Investec Ashes Series has been rewarded with a BAFTA. Sky's cricket team collected the prize at the Royal Opera House after winning the Sport category, beating competition from BBC's FA Cup final and Six Nations final day coverage, and Channel 4 for its Grand National coverage. The Ashes won the award for Television Live Sports Broadcast as well as Multi-Media Sports Package for innovations in the multi-platform package. Sky Cricket also won a Broadcast Award for its coverage of the 2015 Ashes (Sky Sports).

NEW OLYMPIC PLATFORM: Discovery Communications announced a new TV and multi-platform broadcast agreement for the Olympic Games, with Ceska Televize, the public broadcaster in the Czech Republic. The deal will make the 2018 and 2020 Olympic Games available to Czech viewers on both CT Sport and Eurosport, creating a multi-faceted offering across free-to-air, pay-TV and digital. As part of the agreement, CT will sub-license from Discovery Communications free-to-air audio visual rights for one channel, for the 2018 and 2020 Olympic Games. Additionally, CT's sub-licensing package includes digital rights to the content it broadcasts on its linear TV channel. Furthermore, CT agreed to promote the live events airing on Eurosport and not covered by CT (Discovery).
