Marketplace Roundup: SportPesa To Decide Friday If It Will Reinstate Gor, AFC Sponsorship

After an 11 day wait, betting firm SportPesa "might lift the suspension" of its sponsorship to Kenyan Premier League sides Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards. SportPesa closed its financial taps on the two clubs on Monday last week, "due to cases of hooliganism, but following a series of meetings a reinstatement of the partnership might be announced as soon as Friday." SportPesa CEO Ronald Karauri said, "We’ve had two meetings with them and by tomorrow (Friday) we will have concluded and made a decision whether to continue or not. But it’s looking promising" (CAPITAL FM, 5/5).

Orthopaedic and sports medicine hospital Aspetar "is providing medical support for the opening meeting of the IAAF Diamond League," taking place in Doha, Qatar. Aspetar "will provide a team of 50 sports medicine doctors, experts and nurses, as well as specialists in physiotherapy, massage therapy, and emergency intervention" (GULF TIMES, 5/4).
