Brazil Security Official Andrei Augusto Passos Rodrigues Describes Prep For Olympics

Brazil Special Secretary Of Security At Big Events Andrei Augusto Passos Rodrigues "outlined the security measures for this summer's Olympics," according to Manuel Bruña of MUNDO DEPORTIVO. He said that there will be 15,000 more police officers than there were during the 2014 World Cup. Passos Rodrigues added that "there will be 47,000 professionals in addition to the armed forces, leaving nearly 70,000 people involved in security." He pointed out that in '12, "London had to improvise because the private security failed." Passos Rodrigues: "From the start we have used public security, nothing private." He did not deny that terrorism "is one of the biggest concerns for the Games," saying, "We are always ready for the worst scenario and this is how we prepared for the World Cup" (MUNDO DEPORTIVO, 4/25).
