Scottish Football Clubs Using Social Media Company Fieldoo To Find Players

Scottish football clubs "are using a new social media network to find players ahead of the summer transfer window," according to Mark McDougall of the Scotland DAILY RECORD. Two SPFL outfits -- one from the Premiership and one from the Championship -- "are using Fieldoo.com to search for players from across the world." The company, started in '13 by 35-year-old Klemen Hosta, is "in the process of moving their headquarters to London." The website "allows players, agents and clubs from any level in the world to create profiles and connect with each other." Around 220,000 players and 20,000 agents "are part of the Fieldoo network," with players from the website involved in professional contracts totaling £12.3M ($17.8M) in the January transfer window. Fieldoo CEO Hosta said, "Central Europe was our test market but we've moved into 180 countries in the past six months. U.K., Germany, France and Italy are our primary targets as well as USA and Asia. Europe is still the holy grail for football but Asia is attractive" (DAILY RECORD, 4/25).
