Bundesliga Side VfL Wolfsburg Signs Nine-Year Kit Deal With Nike

Bundesliga side VfL Wolfsburg "has reached a deal with Nike to become the club's new kit supplier starting in '16-17," according to Holger Rehm of SPONSORs. The partnership, which has not been officially announced, "is reported to be a nine-year deal." Nike will replace Italian brand Kappa, which signed a deal with the club two years ago. The agreement between Wolfsburg and Kappa was set to run until the end of the '18-19 season but will now end after only two years. Nike is expected "to pay a mid seven-figure amount annually for the rights." It will be "drastically more than what Kappa currently pays." Nike was Wolfsburg's kit supplier from '04-09. The U.S. brand currently supplies Bundesliga rivals FC Augsburg, Eintracht Frankfurt, Werder Bremen and Hertha Berlin (SPONSORs, 4/25).
