Sale Of Black Market Tickets Could Seat England Fans Among Russians At Euro 2016

Security at England’s opening match at this summer’s European Championship "is in danger of being compromised by the black market sale of tickets for the fixture," according to Ben Rumsby of the London TELEGRAPH. UEFA announced it had received alerts about "numerous attempts to sell to England supporters tickets which had been allocated to fans of their Russian opponents" for the June 11 clash in Marseille. UEFA warned that England supporters who buy on the black market "may find themselves sitting among Russia fans," which it said could "undermine" the security of spectators. The warning came hours after it emerged that British police were in talks with Euro 2016 organizers amid fears the England-Russia game "may be a prime target for a terrorist attack, with both countries having been involved in bombing Isis positions in Syria" (TELEGRAPH, 4/18).
