Former Premier League player JONAS GUTIERREZ "is in line for a bumper payout after winning a disability discrimination case against Newcastle United." The Argentine midfielder took his former team to an employment tribunal after they "froze him out" and "refused to offer him a new contract at the end of last season." The 32-year-old said that billionaire Newcastle Owner MIKE ASHLEY "put pressure on managers to drop him" because they considered his health a "liability" after he was diagnosed with testicular cancer (London DAILY MIRROR, 4/14). ... Belarusian two-time Olympic medal-winning weightlifter ANDREI RYBAKOV "has had his provisional doping suspension lifted in line with new guidelines on meldonium cases." Rybakov, who won Silver in the 85kg class at the 2004 and 2008 Olympics, "recently tested positive for meldonium, which was banned from Jan. 1." The Int'l Weightlifting Federation said in a statement that it lifted Rybakov's provisional suspension "in line with the applicable rules of the recently published WADA notice on meldonium" (AP, 4/14).
