New Investing Group Interested In Majority Stake Of Serie A Side AC Milan

A Chinese-American group has reportedly overtaken Bee Taechaubol as the likeliest AC Milan investor, but "they want the majority stake," according to FOOTBALL ITALIA. Thai businessman Bee has been in talks with the Rossoneri about acquiring 48% of the club for almost a year, "but significant progress is yet to be made." Gazzetta dello Sport reported that a Chinese-American group is "now in pole position" rather than Bee, after "various postponements, problems and delays." The group is comprised of a Chinese investor and an American adviser, but "their names are yet to be revealed." Gazzetta said that there are "three main differences" between this group and Bee. The first is that the ownership "would be unique, rather than spread around multiple investors" -- only one person would enter the club. Secondly and significantly, the Chinese-American group values Milan at "a much lower price" than Bee, reportedly at around €700M ($789M) compared to Bee’s €1B ($1.1B). Thirdly, the new investor would want to "immediately purchase the majority stake," something that current President Silvio Berlusconi has "never wanted to consider" (FOOTBALL ITALIA, 4/14).
