Former UEFA President Michel Platini Calls Euro 2016 Ban 'Huge Injustice'

Disgraced former UEFA President Michel Platini describes it as a "huge injustice" that he will not be able to attend his "child" Euro 2016 this summer, according to Nicholas Godden of the London DAILY MAIL. The ex-France int'l "was hit with an eight-year ban from all football-related activity by the FIFA ethics committee." Platini "has spoken of the 'outrage' at the likelihood of not being able to attend the European Championship in his home country despite overseeing the planning process." He said, "The Euro 2016 is my child, but I do not know if I will get there. It is unimaginable that I would not be there from its beginning. This is outrageous and it is a huge injustice." Before his ban, Platini was planning to stand in the recent FIFA presidential elections -- won by Gianni Infantino -- but insisted that "people had an agenda against him." He said, "There were a lot of people who opposed the idea of my leadership at FIFA. Why? Because I might have changed a lot in the organization, things people might not have wanted to change" (DAILY MAIL, 4/7).
