Scottish Championship Side Falkirk Wants Final Round Fixture Moves Reversed

Scottish Championship side Falkirk has called on the Scottish Professional Football League to reverse its "decision to move the final round of Championship fixtures from Saturday, April 30 to Sunday, May 1," according to Laura Brannan of STV. The five matches were moved to the later date after the St. Mirren vs. Rangers "clash was selected for television coverage to ensure they will be played at the same time." The decision was made by the SPFL because as it stands "all five final day games" could have a bearing on promotion or relegation. It is also understood clubs were "given five days prior warning and none raised concern over the prospect of a switch." Falkirk Chair Doug Henderson said, "This decision is inconsiderate of our fans, not only because of the switch to a less convenient day, but also because end-of season supporters' events have been planned for the Saturday. Clubs will lose out considerably at the gates and through the loss of hospitality." There is no league rule "determining all matches must be played at the same time on the final day of the season" (STV, 4/5).
