Hotel Chain BlueBay Execs Talk Vision For La Liga Side Málaga

The "battle to take over" La Liga side Málaga continued on Tuesday when hotel chain BlueBay and President Jamal Satli Iglesias presented the project "that would be rolled out if judges rule in favor of them in the case against club Owner Abdullah Al-Thani," according to Jesús Ballesteros of MARCA. BlueBay Financial Dir Gonzalo Hervás said, "There have been a series of circumstances that are making us take this step forward. ... We also want to explain what we are going to do from here. ... Our project is going forward and we are willing to start it as soon as we can." BlueBay's plans include stadium renovations "that would allow the club to increase its revenue while exploiting the infrastructure that already exists." Satli Iglesias said, "We would look for €15M ($17M) to €20M ($23M) extra in revenue. A mall inside the stadium, as well as a hotel, to aspire to follow the steps by other clubs that were in bad condition and are now leaders. It would be a modern stadium, and we would increase the capacity to 47,000. ... 100 percent of the revenue from the hotel will go to the club. ... We want a stadium that would be the most visited attraction in the city" (MARCA, 4/5).
