Financial Notes: FC Twente Receives Point Deduction For Financial Irregularities

The Dutch FA (KNVB) "deducted three points from FC Twente due to financial irregularities." The license commission announced on Monday that it had "punished the cash-strapped Enschede club" after it had withdrew financial statements. The club has been under investigation from the KNVB after "several irregularities were discovered" in its transfers. The three-point penalty sees Twente "drop from tenth to thirteenth place" (FOOTBALL ORANJE, 4/4).

Portuguese sports channel Sport TV ended '15 with a loss of €10.3M, representing a 66% "increase on the loss" of €6.2M in '14. In the same period, revenues dropped 7.4% to €119.7M, according to the annual financial results of operator Nos. Sport TV, "which is 50/50 owned by Nos and Controlinveste, has seen losses mounting for nearly five consecutive years" (TELECOM PAPER, 3/31).
