Euro 2016 organizers held two mock terrorist attacks in two host cities in the lead up to the tournament set to begin June 10 and run through July 10 in 10 cities in France. Saint-Étienne participated in mock "chemical or biological attack" at the Geoffroy-Guichard stadium. Bordeaux held a "mock attack on a fanzone" in the center of town that expects to attract 62,000 people during the tournament (LE PARISIEN, 4/4).
Outgoing World Rugby Chair Bernard Lapasset believes the Six Nations "should be reformed to include promotion and relegation." Lapasset feels the tournament "needs to do more to enable other nations in Europe -- who currently compete in the European Nations Cup -- to develop." Lapasset: "We need to change the format of the Six Nations. Either directly or via a play-off, but we must quickly give a vision, a hope for the [other] teams there" (THE 42, 4/4).
Scottish Premiership side Inverness Caledonian Thistle's match against Heart of Midlothian "is off" because a virus left the away side with "few fit players." The match at the Caledonian Stadium will now be played on April 12, with a 7:45 kickoff.
