Event Notes: European Champions Cup, Challenge Cup Finals To Be Held At Murrayfield

The finals of the '16-17 European Champions Cup and Challenge Cup will be held at Edinburgh's Murrayfield Stadium on May 12-13. European club rugby's showcase weekend will then "return to Edinburgh" for the first time since '09 when both the Challenge Cup and Champions Cup finals will be held at Murrayfield (AFP, 3/30).

The Russia-based Dinamo Field Hockey Club has pulled out of its tour to Pakistan which was scheduled to kick off on April 2 in Lahore. According to a press release by the Pakistan Hockey Federation, Dinamo was scheduled to take on the Pakistan Junior Hockey Team in Lahore on April 2, 3, 5 and 6 -- "but Sunday’s terrorist attack in the city forced the club from Ekaterinburg to call the tour off" (PAKISTAN TODAY, 3/30).

The IAAF World Indoor Tour, which was inaugurated this year, will expand with the inclusion of two further meetings by '18. The inaugural season of the IAAF World Indoor Tour was composed of four IAAF Indoor Permit meetings. The meeting in Dusseldorf, Germany, will also be included in the '17 calendar. The Tour will then expand further to six meetings in '18 with the addition of a non-European meeting (IAAF).

The Council of Paris voted Wednesday on the location of the Paris fan zone for Euro 2016. The fan zone “will be located on the Champ de Mars,” a public greenspace in the seventh arrondissement close to the Eiffel Tower. The "design, development, operation and responsibility" of the site will be entrusted to Lagardère Sports (L’ÉQUIPE, 3/30).
