A-League side Western Sydney Wanderers will play the bulk of its games at Spotless Stadium in Homebush while Pirtek Stadium is demolished and rebuilt, "with a handful of high-profile fixtures to be based at ANZ Stadium," according to Tom Smithies of the Sydney DAILY TELEGRAPH. A deal "has been struck for up to 10 games to be played at Spotless, home of the GWS and Sydney Thunder sides, while derbies and games against opponents such as Melbourne Victory will be played at ANZ Stadium." Though Spotless’s 24,000 capacity is "higher than Pirtek’s existing configuration," it is an oval shape designed for the Australian Football League. Nonetheless "it is likely to be the Wanderers’ home for at least two seasons, while Pirtek is replaced with a boutique venue designed to hold up to 35,000 people." The choice of temporary home follows a "lengthy consultation with Western Sydney’s membership, as well as discussions with various grounds as club officials have sought to avoid playing games at a wide variety of venues." It is believed the club has "reserved the right to take at least one fixture to another venue in the Western Suburbs, having played at Campbelltown and Penrith in the past" (DAILY TELEGRAPH, 3/29).
