France Télévisions To Broadcast France MotoGP Free-To-Air On France 3

The French Moto Grand Prix, to be raced at Le Mans on May 8, will be “broadcast live on France 3,” according to MEDIA SPORTIF. This is “good news for fans who do not have access to Eurosport,” which owns the exclusive rights of the MotoGP in France until ’17. MotoGP had been “broadcast free-to-air in France on NT1” from ’08-12. But in ’13, following the loss of the Formula 1 rights, TF1 decided to “entrust the exclusive rights of the MotoGP to Eurosport.” Allowing France 3 to broadcast the event “speaks to the good relations between France Télévisions and Eurosport which have multiple joint tenders and own a number of rights in common” (MEDIA SPORTIF, 3/22).
