Sport1 Draws Market Share Of More Than 10% For Europa League Broadcast

German free-to-air TV sports channel Sport1 "recorded a market share of more than 10% for its broadcast of Europa League broadcast," according to Nils Lehnebach of SPONSORs. An average of 2.78 million viewers tuned in to watch Dortmund's 2-1 win on Thursday. The figure "matched Sport1's season high viewership, which was set during the Europa League group stage game between Dortmund and PAOK." Thursday's match obtained a market share of 10.1%. In the target demographic 14-49, Dortmund's victory had a 9.1% market share and attracted 900,000 viewers. As the last remaining German club, it is expected that Borussia Dortmund's upcoming Europa League quarterfinal match "will break the 3 million-viewer threshold for the first time this season" (SPONSORs, 3/18).

IN FRANCE: L’ÉQUIPE reported the last day of the Six Nations tournament saw England beat France 31-21 in front of 5 million viewers on France 2, translating to a 22.6% market share. The match drew a peak audience of 6 million, and was “a record audience for prime time on Saturday on France 2.” Later in the day, 1.3 million viewers watched Italy lose to Wales 67-14, translating to a 13.9% market share. The Ireland vs. Scotland (35-25) match drew 2 million viewers and translated to a 14.1% market share. (L’ÉQUIPE, 3/20).
