Football Notes: Former Brazilian FA President's Bank Secrecy Request Denied

Former Brazilian FA President Ricardo Teixeira is "fighting what appears to be a losing battle against the parliamentary inquiry" led by Senator Romario into corruption in Brazilian football. His request "to protect bank secrecy has been denied." Brazilian authorities began investigating Teixeira for "various alleged crimes, including tax evasion and money laundering, and he fled to Miami." Last year the U.S. Department of Justice also "indicted Teixeira in the continuing corruption case focused on the global game" (INSIDE WORLD FOOTBALL, 3/15).

Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund has been charged by UEFA after 17 Tottenham fans "were injured in a crush before last week's Europa League first leg." Fans "were hurt as they struggled to enter the Westfalenstadion before the last-16 game" and UEFA has opened disciplinary proceedings against the German club. UEFA's Control, Ethics & Disciplinary Body charged Dortmund with "blocking stairways at the ground." The case will be heard on May 19 (London GUARDIAN, 3/15).

The French Football Federation and the Agency for French Education Abroad (AEFE) signed a partnership agreement on Monday in Paris.
