Athletic's Lease Agreement For San Mamés Includes $73M Purchase Option After 50 Years

The contract between the San Mamés Barria organization and La Liga side Athletic Bilbao for the lease of San Mamés Stadium "contains a purchase option that would allow the club to acquire the stadium within 50 years" for an estimated price of €66M ($73M), according to the EFE. This clause in the contract was revealed on Wednesday. San Mamés Barria, the organization that built the stadium, includes Athletic Bilbao, regional and city government and Kutxabank. The lease agreement signed in Sept. '13 is for a period of 50 years, with Athletic Bilbao paying €500,000 ($551,000) per year (EFE, 3/9).
