Former Serie B side Brescia President & Owner LUIGI CORIONI died on Tuesday at the age of 78. Corioni signed PEP GUARDIOLA to a contract as player during the '01-02 season. Under his leadership, Brescia was promoted from Serie B to Serie A five times (EFE, 3/8). ... Spain's Supreme Court annulled the €1.3M fine that the Spanish tax authorities imposed on former footballer IVÁN DE LA PEÑA for IRPF (personal income) tax declarations he made from '98-01. He will "recover this amount" after the court found that "actions by the tax authorities were prescribed" (EL MUNDO, 3/8). ... India's richest man, MUKESH AMBANI, is "muscling into the cable TV sector as part of a media and telecoms offensive that pits him against his once-estranged younger brother and threatens to shake up both industries." Ambani controls Reliance Industries, an oil and gas firm. He is "also now targeting consumers, taking steps most recently into telecoms," where he has spent at least $18B on 4G telecoms brand RJio, due to launch this year (REUTERS, 3/8).
