Volkswagen Set To End Shirt Sponsorship Deal With 2nd Bundesliga Side 1860 Munich

German car manufacturer Volkswagen will end its shirt sponsorship deal with 2nd Bundesliga side 1860 Munich, according to Nils Lehnebach of SPONSORs. German newspaper "Handelsball" reports that VW will not renew its deal with 1860 Munich, which is set to expire after the season. VW has been the club's main and shirt sponsor since '13 and pays an estimated €1.6M ($1.8M) annually for the rights. In addition, VW is expected to end its second-tier deal with Bundesliga side Schalke, which will also expired at the end of the season. 1860 President Peter Cassalette: "We have not yet received an official rejection from VW." Earlier reports suggested that the company "is also examining its deals with Hannover 96 and Werder Bremen." However, VW's deals with both clubs "are long term and currently not up for debate" (SPONSORs, 3/8).
