Media Notes: Dorna, ESPN Extend MotoGP Latin American Broadcast Rights Agreement

Dorna Sports announced a three-year contract extension with ESPN, securing the distribution of the MotoGP world championship throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. ESPN will broadcast the complete '16, '17 and '18 seasons of MotoGP, including free practices, qualifying sessions, races and highlights, as well as additional coverage of the Moto2 and Moto3 world championships (MotoGP). 

FIRST OF ITS KIND: Canal+ Group French channels D17 and Canal+ Sport will broadcast the first edition of the “SheBelieves Cup,” a four-team women’s friendly football tournament to be played in the U.S. Just “five months away from the Rio Olympics,” Germany, England, U.S. and France will compete from March 3-9 in Tennessee and Florida. D17 will broadcast the three French matches, while Canal+ Sport will broadcast the other three matches of the competition (MEDIA SPORTIF, 3/2).

The Football League is "carrying out a review of its digital platforms via its digital subsidiary FL Interactive." The league, which comprises the second, third and fourth tiers of English football, will invite firms that specialize in sports-specific services for web and mobile platforms, "delivering audio and video content and managing payments services, to be part of the review process" (PR WEEK, 3/2).

Sport1 GmbH is one of some 30 media partners worldwide that are cooperating with Google regarding last week's launch of Accelerated Mobile Pages. Within the scope of the partnership, Germany's 360 degree multimedia sports platform No. 1 can offer users the latest news content for mobile devices even quicker. The open-source project AMP was launched last year by Google as part of its Digital News Initiative to support digital journalism (Sport1).
