Swiss Challenge League Side FC Bienne Still Has Not Paid Players, Staff Despite Promises

January salaries for Swiss Challenge League side FC Bienne players and staff “have still not been paid despite promises,” according to 24HEURES. Club President Carlo Häfeli last Saturday said that the salaries “would be paid on Monday.” However on Tuesday night, the players’ accounts “had still not been credited.” Club sponsors group head Dietmar Faes said, “Our patience is running out and our trust is broken. We do not want to work with the leaders who are in place. They are not transparent nor reliable” (24HEURES, 3/1). 24HEURES also reported SCL side FC Basel “completed its 2015 fiscal year with a nice profit” of 12M Swiss francs ($12M). This is a decline of 3M Swiss francs ($3M) “compared to last year.” The turnover for the club in ’15 was 92M Swiss francs ($92.2M) compared to 105M Swiss francs in ’14. Despite the positive numbers, the club “continues to suffer from a structural deficit” of 10M Swiss francs ($10M) (24HEURES, 2/29).
