Wembley Stadium Named U.K.'s Most Iconic Sporting Venue In Stubhub Survey

Wembley Stadium has been named the U.K.’s "most iconic venue" ahead of Wimbledon and Wales’ Millenium Stadium, a survey by Stubhub found, according to James Benge of the London EVENING STANDARD. Nearly half of the 1,002 respondents (48.4%) named the national football stadium, which has also played host to the NFL, "the classic sporting venue in the country." The 90,000-capacity stadium was reopened just under nine years ago, with the first competitive game an FA Trophy final between Kidderminster Harriers and Stevenage Borough. Ahead of "what is set to be a thrilling few months of sporting action Stubhub also asked its respondents to name the sporting events they were most excited about." Boxer Anthony Joshua’s fight with Charles Martin was ranked No. 1, ahead of the Aviva Premiership rugby final, WWE Raw and Tottenham’s clash with Arsenal (EVENING STANDARD, 3/1).
