Barcelona Details Plans For New Palau Blaugrana Basketball Arena

Barcelona on Tuesday presented plans for its new Palau Blaugrana basketball arena. Work on the facility is expected to start during the '17-18 season and conclude during the '19-20 campaign. The arena will have a capacity of 12,000 for sporting events and 12,500 for social and cultural events. Some of the features of the building include: 

  • Flexible and retractable seating configuration that adapts to each use.
  • Asymmetrical design: a single seating bowl and an extension at the back of the stands overlooking the stadium.
  • 24 VIP boxes and four 4 skybars/lounges with court views.
  • An adjacent court with a capacity for up to 2,000 spectators, an ice rink fitting 800 fans and the FCBEscola facilities, with two football pitches (Barcelona).
