Marketplace Roundup: Super Rugby Side Hurricanes Partner With Kia Motors NZ

Kia Motors New Zealand will be front and center on Super Rugby side Hurricanes' away playing jerseys during the '16 Super Rugby season in a new sponsorship. As one of the Hurricanes' major partners, Kia has added to a sports sponsorship portfolio that includes the FIFA World Cup, Australian Open and UEFA European Football Championship. The Hurricanes will wear the yellow Kia away strip six times this season including in Dunedin in round two when the team's black home jersey clashes with the Highlanders' dark blue strip (Hurricanes).

ARU SIGNS SWISSE: The Australian Rugby Union announced that vitamin brand Swisse, which has been the official vitamin and supplement partner of the Wallabies since '12, is extending its support of Australian Rugby to become the official vitamin and supplement partners of the Super Rugby competition. The four-year deal, which runs until '19, will see the Swisse logo featured at all domestic Australian Super Rugby matches through prominent grass signage, logos on the match balls, and logos on the uniforms of the ball boys and ball girls (ARU).

The Rugby Football Union and real estate adviser CBRE extended their partnership through Dec. '19. CBRE will remain an official partner of England Rugby and become title partner of All Schools, a program which will increase the number of state secondary schools playing rugby in England (RFU).

Qatargas announced its support for the Qatar Golf Association's junior golf program for the sixth season in a row. Qatargas' partnership with the QGA aims to increase the sport's popularity in Qatar, especially among the younger generation (GULF TIMES, 2/28).


The Sauber F1 team named Swiss watch manufacturer Edox a premium partner ahead of the upcoming season. Edox is a 130-year-old brand (Edox).

Finance firm Borrelli Walsh was named a platinum sponsor of the Cayman Islands National Rugby Sevens Team in its inaugural journey to the Hong Kong Sevens. Borrelli Walsh is a longtime supporter of rugby in Hong Kong and a principal sponsor of local Hong Kong clubs USRC Tigers and DB Pirates, and also supports Sai Kung Stingrays (THE CAYMAN REPORTER, 2/26).
