Puma To Invest In Handball In '16 As Brand Identifies Sport As Second Team Sports Pillar

Puma "will increase its investment in handball," according to Henning Eberhardt of SPONSORs. The German company is trying to establish a second pillar in team sports. Puma DACH GM Matthias Bäumer said, "In addition to football, Puma will, in the area of team sports, put an increased focus on handball and make new investments in the sports starting in 2016." He added that the company plans to present a "new revised indoor collection." Puma recently signed a deal with former handballer Stefan Kretzschmar as a brand ambassador. Bäumer said that Kretzschmar will support Puma in its "strategic development of its handball category." Puma is expected to sign new cooperations in the handball. The club has reportedly already started conversations with defending German champion THW Kiel. The club's deal with current supplier adidas is set to expire after the '16-17 season (SPONSORs, 2/26).
