The administrative council of the Luxembourg Cycling Federation (FSCL) named CHRISTIAN HELMIG as its national technical director. The four-time national cyclo-cross champion will work part-time and starts on March 15, "three days before the election of the new FSCL president" (LE QUOTIDIEN, 2/22). ... GARY MARENZI has been "tapped for the new position" of head of entertainment sales and partnerships at talent management outfit IMG. Marenzi will work out of Beverly Hills and London, "overseeing global sales for entertainment programming." Marenzi was previously president of Paramount Int'l Television, MGM Worldwide Television and UIP Pay Television; most recently he "ran the consultancy Marenzi & Associates" (BROADCASTING CABLE, 2/22). ... Dentsu Sports Asia appointed STUART RAMALINGAM as VP and head of Dentsu Sports Asia's Malaysia operation. Based in Kuala Lumpur, he is tasked to "reinvent the sports marketing landscape" by conceptualizing and introducing int'l standard management, servicing methods and innovative marketing concepts that will challenge the grain within the current domestic sports industry. Ramalingam is currently heading all DSA's Malaysian projects "consisting of clients, brands and federations." He will play DSA's leading role for "the seven-person strong and growing sports marketing team in Malaysia" (MARKETING INTERACTIVE, 2/19). ... UK Athletics Head of Int'l & Televised Events CHERRY ALEXANDER has been announced as the new managing director for the London 2017 IAAF and IPC World Championships. Alexander, who has worked in the sport for 35 years with 25 years at the national governing body, "played a significant part in the athletics competition delivery during the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games." She received an MBE at the end of the year for services to sport and is a previous winner of the Sunday Times Sportswomen of the year "Unsung Hero" Award (ATHLETICS WEEKLY, 2/22). ... League One side Scunthorpe United appointed caretaker Manager NICK DAWS as manager "until the end of the season." Daws will "continue to be assisted" by ANDY DAWSON. The duo "were placed in temporary charge of the Iron in January following the sacking of MARK ROBINS and have led the side to four wins in five games" (BBC, 2/22).
