RTÉ Set To Share Euro 2016 Television Coverage With TV3

RTÉ looks "set to share" TV coverage of Euro 2016 with TV3, according to Daniel Kelly of NEWS TALK. Both the Irish Independent and Irish Sun claim that TV3 "is to broadcast 22 games from the tournament." The deal "is similar to what happens in Britain, when BBC and ITV share coverage of World Cups and European Championships." RTÉ "will have the first choice of games not including Ireland, but it is another success story on the sports front for TV3." The station "already shares Champions League coverage with RTÉ, and will have exclusive coverage of the Six Nations from 2018" (NEWS TALK, 2/22).

RAI AND SKY TO SHARE: SOCCEREX reported Italian broadcasters Rai and Sky Italia "are to share coverage" of this summer’s UEFA Euro 2016 tournament. Public-service network Rai "will air 27 of the 51 scheduled games on an exclusive, free-to-air basis, according to the Calcio e Finanza website," which cites Dir General Antonio Campo Dall’Orto. The network originally offered €54M ($59.5M) for 23 games, "but has ended up agreeing its 27-game deal" for close to €70M ($77M). The terms of Sky’s deal and its planned coverage "are not available" (SOCCEREX, 2/22).
