Marketplace Roundup: Juventus Midfielder Paul Pogba Signs 10-Year Deal With Adidas

Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba is set to sign a 10-year sponsorship contract with adidas. He had so far been resisting "choosing a single kit sponsor, but that is due to change." The deal is set to earn him at least €4M ($4.4M) per season, plus numerous bonuses (FOOTBALL ITALIA, 2/20). ... Australian Football League side West Coast Eagles signed a recruit "that is already a household name." Independent grocery chain IGA will begin a partnership with the club in '16 and is guaranteed an abundance of possessions as it signed on as West Coast's official match ball sponsor -- meaning the logo will take pride of place on the Sherrin for all home games (West Coast Eagles). ... Drinkaware partnered with England Rugby "to raise awareness of responsible alcohol consumption" during the Six Nations games. The campaign will be displayed at Twickenham Stadium during the two Six Nations home fixtures, and will include in-bowl LED advertising, messaging on big screens in-bowl and in the West Fan Village, poster advertising in bars "throughout the stadium and through several England Rugby communications channels" (THE SPIRITS BUSINESS, 2/22). ... ZTE Mobile Devices announced the signing of a sponsorship deal with La Liga side Sevilla to serve as the club's official technology partner and official smartphone of the team. With this agreement, both ZTE and Sevilla will carry out several events throughout the season to engage with fans (Sevilla). ... Australian law firm MinterEllison has been named as the official lawyers for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games, in a three-year partnership. In a world-first for any major sporting event, MinterEllison will provide a fully outsourced legal and brand protection service to GOLDOC -- embedding a team of experienced lawyers within the organizing corporation and drawing in national specialist advisers as required (Gold Coast 2018).
