Wayne Rooney Insists He Will Remain At ManU Through At Least '18

ManU's Wayne Rooney has "snubbed" two approaches from Chinese Super League teams -- "because he wants to stay at Old Trafford," according to the London DAILY MIRROR. Rooney and long-time agent Paul Stretford "have received several inquiries from mega-rich Asian clubs -- and all have been politely rebuffed." ManU last week "took the unusual step" of denying a CSL team had made a £27M ($38.5M) bid for its captain and Rooney’s camp said that he is not "interested in leaving." Rooney insists he is "fully committed" to ManU and intends to stay until at least '18 to fulfill his ambition of "lifting a trophy this season and breaking Bobby Charlton’s all-time scoring record." The only way Rooney will "break his Old Trafford deal -- which after this season has two more years to run plus a third year as an option" -- is if ManU rips up his £300,000 ($428,000)-a-week contract and tells him he is "no longer wanted at the club." With Rooney "the only genuine star name" and recognized leader in the current ManU dressing room that scenario is not "remotely likely" (DAILY MIRROR, 2/20).
