Scottish League Two Side Clyde Faces Ban On Transfer Signings After Missing Tax Payment

Scottish League Two side Clyde is facing a ban on transfer window signings after it "accidentally missed a payment to the taxman," according to the Scotland DAILY RECORD. The sanction could be applied by the Scottish Professional Football League after the club "inadvertently" broke a league rule by failing to pay over £3,000 to U.K. tax authority HMRC in November. During the window, Clyde signed striker John Gemmell from Albion Rovers, former Livingston midfielder and Annan Athletic forward Jamie Watson, and brought in defender Scott McMann on loan from Hamilton. And if the SPFL punishes Clyde then "none of those three new recruits will be able to feature" for Manager Barry Ferguson's side, currently seventh in Scotland's fourth tier. An SPFL spokesperson said, "The SPFL Board is aware of this matter which will be discussed when it meets later this week" (DAILY RECORD, 2/15).
