Media Notes: Yahoo, PGA Tour Announce Strategic Relationship

Yahoo and the PGA Tour announced a strategic relationship to deliver free, live and on-demand video content from the PGA Tour to fans around the world, no cable subscription or authentication required. Yahoo will also offer global access to video on demand PGA Tour content, including access to highlights and original content from tournaments, such as the PGA Tour, PGA Tour Champions, Web.com Tour, PGA Tour Latinoamérica and Mackenzie Tour-PGA Tour Canada (Yahoo). ... The RTL Group "will use all of its free-to-air F1 broadcast rights inhouse and show the free practice sessions on news channel N-TV." Over the last three seasons, RTL "sublicensed the broadcast rights for Friday's free practice sessions to Sport1." RTL renewed its F1 broadcast rights deal for another two years in August (SPONSORs, 2/11). ... OTT South Asian content provider YuppTV secured the digital media rights for this year's Asia Cup T20, to be held from Feb. 24-March 6. While YuppTV has secured exclusive rights to stream Asia Cup 2016 live in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Malaysia, cricket fans in Singapore will also be able to view the tournament via the YuppTV app on multiple Internet-enabled devices such as smart TVs, smart Blu-ray players, streaming media players, laptops, gaming consoles, smartphones and tablets (YuppTV).
