Franchise Notes: Audi Will Take Bayern Munich On Another Summer Tour

Audi will take Bayern Munich on another summer tour this year. Audi Sports Marketing Head Thomas Glas made the announcement at SpoBiS in Dusseldorf, Germany, on Tuesday. He said that the exact location and dates are currently being finalized and expects to make an official announcement over the next several weeks. Last year's Audi Summer Tour took the team to China (HJ Mai, SBD Global). ... Former EPL side Crystal Palace Manager Tony Pulis, who currently manages West Bromwich Albion, "has spent the past two days fighting a battle" with Crystal Palace over a £1M ($1.44M) bonus to keep the club in the Premier League. Palace Chair Steve Parish brought the action against Pulis after he "quit the Eagles just hours before the opening day" of the '14-15 season. Pulis was due to be paid £1M by Palace for the club’s "miraculous escape from relegation and it’s understood he asked for the payment to be brought forward." The tribunal began on Sunday "and had initially been expected to last for two weeks, but it’s understood that it is now expected to finish before the end of the week" (London DAILY MAIL, 2/1). ... ManU is contemplating a "truncated pre-season tour of around 10 days that will feature only two matches," with the club likely to visit China or another part of Asia. As many as 17 of Manager Louis van Gaal’s squad "could be involved with their respective nations at Euro 2016 and each will have at least three weeks’ rest afterwards." The need to be back in Manchester for Wayne Rooney’s testimonial, which is scheduled for Aug. 3, is a "further factor disrupting plans, forcing the club to consider a shorter trip." ManU's overseas tours "are usually close to three weeks in length and feature at least four games" (London GUARDIAN, 2/2).
