Andy Murray Vs. Novak Djokovic Australian Open Final Sets Eurosport Record

Eurosport achieved record audience figures with its exclusive coverage of the Novak Djokovic vs. Andy Murray Australian Open final, making it the most-watched TV channel in the U.K. Eurosport 1 was the most watched channel in the U.K. during the match, hitting a peak of 1.1 million viewers. It was Eurosport's best tennis ratings and best weekend in the U.K. ever. Eurosport's exclusive coverage of the final made Eurosport 1 the most watched channel in the U.K. at the moment Djokovic won the third set tiebreak to seal the victory. The three-hour match averaged 868,000 TV viewers with a peak audience of over 1 million viewers during the second set. The record is a further indication of Eurosport's revitalization and growth as part of Discovery Communications. The previous highest audience for a Eurosport program in the U.K. was over 20 years ago, when 793,000 people watched a FIFA World Cup match between Romania and Switzerland in '94. The previous best ever tennis audience was also for a Murray vs. Djokovic match for their French Open semifinal in '15, which achieved a peak audience of 560,000 (Eurosport).
