Media Notes: German Ski Federation Sells National Media Rights To ARD, ZDF

The German Ski Federation (DSV) has once again "sold its national media rights to German public broadcasters ARD and ZDF." SportA, the sports rights agency of ARD and ZDF, and the DSV "reportedly agreed to extend their partnership for another four years until '19-20." The deal includes the two German events of the Four Hills Tournament along with all FIS World Cup competitions on German soil. This year's Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) Top 4 event "will air on regional German public broadcaster Bayrischer Rundfunk." BR "will show the two-day event from Munich starting at 2:45pm on Feb. 21." SportA "purchased the rights to the event at the end of '14 through the '15-16 season." Last year's event, which aired on ZDF, drew 280,000 and had a 2.4% market share (SPONSORs, 1/27). ... Titled FIFA 1904 -- a nod to the year in which world football’s governing body was founded -- the monthly magazine will contain more in-depth stories and interviews over 68 pages compared to its predecessor, a 40-page publication which was produced weekly over the last two years. The magazine will be provided in printed format to the football community including confederations and member associations, with an online version also being available to fans for free (FIFA). ... After months of on-again/off-again negotiations, Fox Sports secured the English-language media rights to this summer's Copa América Centenario, which is scheduled to be held this June in 10 U.S. venues. A formal announcement was expected to be made Wednesday. It is not clear how much Fox paid as part of this one-year deal. The deal gives Fox Sports cross-platform rights, meaning games will be produced on its broadcast channel, two sports channels (FS1 and FS2) and its authenticated streaming service (Fox Sports Go) (John Ourand, SportsBusiness Daily.).
