Hearts Owner Ann Budge Hits Out At Supporters Over Poor Behavior

Scottish Premiership club Heart of Midlothian Owner Ann Budge "hit out at the club's supporters" over their recent behavior, according to the Scotland DAILY RECORD. During a Hearts AGM half-yearly update statement released on the club's website, Budge "put the fans on blast over recent incidents involving the club." Budge said that "things have to change at Tynecastle." She said, "We have made it clear over the past 18 months that unacceptable behavior will not be tolerated by the club and have indeed gone so far as to ban a number of our supporters from the stadium. We have stressed repeatedly that we want Tynecastle to be a family-friendly stadium." After incidents against Motherwell, Budge decided that "a police presence would return to games at Tynecastle," costing the club around £50,000 ($71,800) a match for its remaining fixtures. Budge: "I cannot begin to tell you how angry this makes me, when we are working so hard to put the club back at the heart of the community. Instead of talking proudly about the team’s superb performance, or indeed our supporters’ unprecedented loyalty (yet another home sell-out), I am instead having to hold meetings with the authorities regarding how we are going to address this behavior problem" (DAILY RECORD, 1/26).
