Media Notes: Hyundai Becomes Exclusive Auto Sponsor Of Sport 24

Hyundai is the latest brand to become an exclusive advertiser on in-flight, in-ship sports channel Sport 24. IMG-owned Sport 24 shows live coverage of events and leagues including the Olympics, Champions League, Premier League, Bundesliga, Formula 1, NFL and NBA. Hyundai has category exclusivity in the automotive industry and joins Rolex and data security company Barracuda as Sport 24 advertisers (Sport 24). ... Sky Italia acquired a batch of football media rights "from RCS Media Group, the former operators of the now defunct Gazzetta TV channel." The pay-TV network has agreed to pay just over €500,000 ($541,000) "for Gazzetta's rights to the English Championship and League Cup, and the South American qualifiers to the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup." Sky Italia's purchase of the rights "bolsters" its existing football portfolio (SOCCEREX, 1/22). ... Live coverage of Australia's "looming tour of New Zealand could be limited to those with pay-TV, with no guarantee either radio network that covered this summer's series in Australia will cover the two-Test series." The Macquarie Radio network is "the only possibility to provide commentary of the Tests in Wellington and Christchurch after their rival, ABC Radio, confirmed they would not be broadcasting the series, on either their conventional radio or digital radio stations" (THE AGE, 1/25). ... Sports fans in Singapore will have access to live and exclusive action from the Badminton Asia Team Championships 2016 on Eleven Sports Network. Eleven Sports channel will show action from the quarterfinal stage from Feb. 19-21 as the competition, hosted in Hyderabad, India, draws to a close (Eleven Network). ... Every ball of the Australia and India T20 int'l series will be broadcast to Australian audiences in Hindi via the Cricket Australia app and cricket.com.au, as part of a new partnership between CA and Indian Link Media Group (Cricket Australia).
