German Car Brand Opel To Reduce Football Sponsorship Deals For '16-17 Season

German car brand Opel "will adjust its sponsorship activities for the upcoming season," according to Henning Eberhardt of SPONSORs. Opel will not to renew its deal with Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen. The second-tier partnership contract with the club will expire at the end of the '15-16 season. However, the two parties are in talks to continue their partnership in reduced capacity. Opel could continue as the club's car partner. Should Opel decide to completely end its relationship with Leverkusen then it would enter the '16-17 season with only three Bundesliga clubs in its portfolio. Its deal with Mainz and Freiburg will end after the '16-17 season. The deal between Borussia Dortmund and Opel runs until the end of the '17-18 season. Opel is a second-tier partner at each of the clubs (SPONSORs, 1/22).
