Basketball Bundesliga Club Brose Baskets Will Change Name For '16-17 Season

Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) club Brose Baskets Bamberg will change its name for the next season, according to Nils Lehnebach of SPONSORs. The Brose Baskets will drop the "Baskets" part and simply be known as Brose Bamberg starting Aug. 1. Club Exec Chair Michael Stoscheck: "There are many 'baskets' nowadays, the word has become omnipresent. City and club are profiting from each other and we want to highlight this face through the name change. Brose is the flagship for the basketball enthusiasm of an entire region." For the club, which is a 100% subsidiary of automobile parts company Brose, it "will be the seventh name in its history" (SPONSORs, 1/12).
