ARD Draws More Than 4 Million Viewers For Winter Sports Coverage On Saturday

German public broadcaster ARD "drew more than 4 million viewers on average for its winter sports coverage on Saturday," according to Manuel Nunez Sanchez of QUOTENMETER. The women's biathlon World Cup event, which started at 3:15pm, attracted an average of 4.4 million viewers. The number translated into a market share of 27.2%. In the target demographic 14-49, the women's race obtained a 14.9% share. The men's race ahead of the women's event was watched by 4.18 million viewers. The race, which started at 12:55pm, drew a 32.1% market share. All other winter sports events recorded less than 4 million viewers. The ski jumping team competition attracted 3.76 million viewers starting at 6pm. The event had a 17.5% market share. The women's Tour de Ski cross-country competition drew 19.6% starting at 2:05pm, while the mens event record 15.6% at 4:05pm. ARD's speed-skating coverage recorded a market share of about 12% (QUOTENMETER, 1/10).

VOLLEYBALL: An average audience of 1 million viewers watched France beat Poland 3-0 in the semifinal match of the Olympic Volleyball Qualifying Tournament on L’Équipe 21. With a peak audience of 1.3 million, the channel attracted its second-largest viewership on record, behind the ’14 Ballon D’Or ceremony (L’ÉQUIPE, 1/10).
