Chinese Streaming Platform PPTV Sports In Talks To Acquire La Liga Side Granada

PPTV Sports, the Chinese group that "took an interest" in La Liga side Málaga -- "almost managing to close a deal to buy the club" -- before going on to express an interest in Espanyol and a "number of other European clubs," has now "turned its attentions" to La Liga side Granada, according to Sergio Fernández of MARCA. Negotiations with Granada Owner Gino Pozzo, however, "are currently at a stalemate." While PPTV Sports was willing to "shell out" almost €60M to purchase Málaga, the Chinese group looks to be taking a "more conservative approach this time." In the case of Granada, the bid "does not even amount" to €40M ($43.7M). Unsurprisingly, Pozzo's "first response was to reject the offer," with club President Quique Pina and Dir of Football Juan Carlos Cordero "in agreement." In any event, "if the talks do turn out to be fruitful -- and inside sources believe that they will" -- both Pina and Cordero will leave the club. PPTV "also owns the rights to La Liga in China" (MARCA, 1/9).
