La Liga Side Espanyol's New Owner Rastar Group Steps In As Team Sponsor

La Liga side Espanyol will be sponsored by its new Chinese owner Rastar Group after ending its relationship with Power8, according to SOCCEREX. Rastar Group will serve as the club’s shirt sponsor for the remainder of the current season. Under the deal, Espanyol will "sport the logos of a number of Rastar-owned brands" on its shirts over the coming months. The first to appear was video game application 52tt.com, whose branding was displayed during Espanyol’s 0-0 draw with Barcelona on Saturday. Rastar Group will "also advertise around Espanyol’s Estadi Cornellà-El Prat stadium and at the club’s training facilities" (SOCCEREX, 1/5). In Madrid, Iván Molero reported Rastar Group Founder Chen Yansheng attended the game against Barcelona. He reportedly invited 20 execs from major Chinese companies, "who in the near future could invest in the club." After the game, Chen "left plainly satisfied, according to sources close to him" (AS, 1/3).
