Bayern Munich Manager Pep Guardiola: 'I Am Looking For A New Challenge'

Bayern Munich Manager Pep Guardiola "is looking for a new challenge and wants to work in the Premier League," according to Ed Osmond of REUTERS. The 44-year-old Spaniard is "leaving the German champions at the end of the season and has been linked with moves to Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea." Guardiola said, "The only reason I am not renewing my contract is that I am looking for a new challenge. I have several offers from England but I haven't signed anything yet. When I have a new club, the club will communicate that. At the moment, I can't say anything else because nothing is fixed. ... I want to experience England's stadiums and emotions. I think at my age, it is the right moment to go" (REUTERS, 1/5). The London GUARDIAN reported Guardiola said, "The atmosphere in the Bayern squad is super and I will do everything I can to keep it that way. I will give my absolute best until the end. If I was 60 or 65 I would have stayed, but I think I am too young. It was a dream, it is a dream. I am very grateful to Bayern for this huge opportunity." Guardiola also "ruled out the prospect of trying to take any Bayern players with him" to the Premier League, adding, "I will not take any players. They have to stay here." Guardiola, who took over from Jupp Heynckes in the summer of '13 on a three-year contract and "has won back-to-back Bundesliga titles, the DFB-Pokal, the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup" (GUARDIAN, 1/5).
